HUSD Chapel
“How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, indeed it faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God." Psalm 84: 1-2.
Thurman Chapel, named in honor of the School of Divinity's venerated faculty member, Dr. Howard Thurman, is the meeting place for chapel services. During the academic year, students, alumni, faculty, area residents and other guests come to share in our weekly worship services on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., as well as other special events. Speakers and artists, locally and nationally, bring a diversity of gifts to chapel services.
The Chapel serves as a venue for worship of God, ecumenical and interfaith exchange, parish ministry preparation, community building, and personal devotion and meditation. Opportunities to participate abound.
There are four areas of service that promote the Chapel's communal vision:
(1) Chapel Administration;
(2) Worship Leadership;
(3) Maintenance and Stewardship; and,
(4) the Chapel Choir
Join us! We look forward to your participation in our weekly services.
